Tight and full of red cherry fruit and acidity, this is a great example of a still relatively rare grape variety. I love this wine from Škegro every year – it has more lift and firmer tannins than the lightweight Blatina.
Also every year, I wish there would be a tiny bit less oak influence – but at the same time, for most palates this will come across as very harmonious and well integrated.
The nose has a wonderful berry compote note with a hint of orange zest and cacao – it reminds me a bit of very young Nerello Mascalese.
