Sepp Moser – Grüner Veltliner Ried Breiter Rain Erste Lage 2020

2020 is the first year I’ve seen Sepp Moser display the Demeter logo on the front label, perhaps an inconsequential detail but perhaps not…
A strange and slightly muddied nose, with some honeyed, botrytised notes, but also green pepper and some oak influence.
This feels very typical of Moser’s style – not about the fruit, but instead about texture and the savoury qualities. It feels a little heavy and lifeless at the moment, but also a bit closed and needing more time. One to return to in 2022 or 2023.
