Magula’s carbonic macerated Blauer Portugieser tastes glorious in this vintage, where the 2018 felt a bit green and unattractively reductive. Here the fruit is juicy and joyful, packed with red cherry and wild strawberry. Despite the featherlite alcohol (10.5%), there is a perfect feeling of ripeness and sun in this wine – but of course with lively acids and freshness too.
Easygoing glou glou material? Yes, but done well, with pure fruit – and an irresistible label to boot.
