Sadly a bit smothered in new oak, with butter and cinnamon notes crowding out the fruit on the nose and the palate. There’s a nice lift and freshness, and delicate saltiness on the finish – a potentially very good wine, if the oak recedes a bit. But I would question why Roter Veltliner needs the oak treatment at all.
