Graphite and blood on the nose, opening up to charming red berry fruits with some almost floral, rose-petal notes – but there’s surprise at the end, with rather drying, bitter tannins. There’s also a slightly dirty hint to the finish, which initially reminded me of TCA. Further aeration and a double-check on the wine the following day revealed that it was definitely not corked.
That said, the fruit is really expressive and enjoyable nonetheless.
