I’m not a fan of the amphora shaped bottle, which makes this feel a little cheap (and it’s most definitely not!). Smells of tinned fruit (peaches and apricots), and there’s a slight sensation of wood (sawdust). Overall though, holding up very well for the age – with a nice creamy undertow and a delicately vegetal finish. With just one day of skin contact, and only the ageing completed in qvevris (not the fermentation) this is a clean and straightforward style (disappointingly so, one might even say). I’m also not really sure why it needs such long ageing before release.
