This blend of four Kkaketian grape varieties was reputedly the favoured wine of King Erekle, an 18th century Georgian monarch.
And Casreli certainly make it in a style that’s fit for a king. The aromas are entrancing and multifaceted, with green tea, floral notes and baked fruits.
Although the texture is typically powerful and grippy, it’s offset by pin sharp acids and charming fruit. The dried fruit character is rounded out with hints of canded peel, wild herbs and underbrush.
Complex yet playful, and beautifully balanced.
