Gelber Traminer is currently the only one of Thomas Buchmayer’s white wines that is both skin fermented (4 weeks skin contact) and vinified/bottled completely without add sulphites. It wears its cloudiness proudly on the robe too.
There’s lots of ripe exotic fruit on the nose – canteloupe melon, guava and so forth – plus a tiny hint of wax.
The finish seems almost sweet – maybe a gram or two of residual sugar? Its soft and citrussy, with pretty much no tannins or noticeable extraction.
Overall, a fruit-forward, easy going orange with plenty of expression and impressive purity and cleanliness.
