Shy on the nose, with a hint of stone fruits and flint. Tight and citrus-driven on the attack, but then evolves quickly into a slightly more vegetal note – which is unexpected. Fascinating to compare this with the Ried Freudshofer Chardonnay from the same year – this feels lighter on its feet and more mineral driven, yet somehow the finish shows evolution which is slightly troubling in such a young wine.
