Schloss Gobelsburg – Grüner Veltliner Ried Grub 2019

A surprisingly simplistic wine from Schloss Gobelsburg. The winemaking is immaculate, and it’s balanced and refined. However the fruit character is just a bit neutral. Everything in this wine is rather “medium+”

Hirsch – Grüner Veltliner Ried Grub 2019

Pretty ripe and broad, this is a Grüner with a good mix of the more vegetal, capsicum-like flavours, and some ripe apple too. It has a nice citrussy lift, so although the mid-palate is fat and buttery, it refreshes on Read more

Bright and citrussy, this concentrated but very elegant Riesling shows its terroir and the superior talent of the winemaking at Schloss Gobelsburg. The fruit tends towards ripe pear with hints of candied peel. The drive and energy are typical of Read more

Hirsch – Riesling Ried Gaisberg 2019

A fascinating and elegant expression of Riesling from Gaisberg’s ripe terroir. The ripe pear and candied fruits on the nose are entrancing, and the fruit character is really well defined on the palate. This feels like quite a big wine, Read more

Topf – Grüner Veltliner Ried Gaisberg 2019

Rather neutral, vegetal fruit in this wine. Overall it’s lacking in lift or character. The finish opens up nicely with a creamy backbone, but there just isn’t a whole lot to get excited about.

Dolle – Grüner Veltliner Ried Gaisberg 2019

Subtly peppery Grüner, with charming and supple green apple and capsicum fruit on the palate. There’s a rounded, ripe quality to the wine but it has restraint too. Fairly simple and primary at the moment.
