Christ – Weissburgunder Ried Falkenberg 2017

From a vineyard in the Bisamberg cru, within Vienna’s city limits. Blowsy, creamy fruit, quite big and rounded, but balanced and mineral with it. Some baked fruits on the nose. Fine, elegant finish. Has seen some oak but it’s subtly Read more

inger – Ried Preussen Riesling 2017

Very stony, hint of pineapple fruit and very subtle citrus notes. Fantastic focus and drive here – quite broad, but tight and balanced, tending towards the mineral rather than the fruit. Perhaps a little short though – and quite hot Read more

inger – Ried Preussen Grüner Veltliner 2017

hint of biscotti/salted caramel on the nose (?) together with citrus peel and green plum, giving way to a super tight, focused grüner, lean and structured. Majoring on citrus and pear notes. Great definition, austere at this stage (bone dry Read more

Rotes Haus – Ried Preussen Gemischter Satz 2017

Rich, lifted fruit, baked apple, honey and candied peel. Beautiful acids that carry the ripe fruit. Some exotic, spicy notes, preserved plum. Very harmonious, on the opulent side but the balance is great. And this is already singing.

Fuhrgassl-Huber – Riesling Ried Preussen 2017

Rich, opulent fruit with a characteristic balsamic tang, lots of character but the sweet finish seems a little unbalanced – and at the loss of some elegance and drinkability. Could be great with semi-sweet dishes though.

Wieninger – Ried Rosengartel Gemischter Satz 2017

Hint of baked goods on the nose, quite broad fruit with dancing citrus acidity and a fine, slaty finish. Nervous and highly strung, despite the alcohol, really needs more time to flesh out a bit but great potential.
